Herb Brown, Expressionist, dies at 88Send: Sunday, November 27, 2011 11:47 am I wanted to inform you all that Herb Brown passed away on Thanksgiving night at the age of 88. His work was pioneering — and though he had a pedigree - studying with Max Beckmann at the Brooklyn Museum Art School — and was a member of the scene that produced Pollock, de Kooning, and Kline, Herb lacked the skills of self-promotion that would have granted him distinction, and spent much of his life trying to promote his work in the ways he knew how. His life was truly colorful — full of amazing characters, stories and art — as was his personality, and his contributions to modern painting — I think — deserve a place in our memory. with love,
